March 14, 2023 FirstBank believes in ensuring diversity is represented at each level of the organization. In March, we celebrate Women’s History Month by recognizing and celebrating some of FirstBank’s women in leadership. Today we’re featuring Oana Constantinescu, Senior Vice President in the Phoenix Market. Hometown: Surprise, AZ Years at FirstBank: 10 In three to four sentences, describe your experience getting to where you are today. I started at FirstBank within the first few years of moving to the United States while still enrolled in graduate school. FirstBank not only helped with tuition but also offered me an unexpected opportunity to have a very rewarding career. For the past ten years, I have drawn my inspiration from senior Officers and also from very talented and experienced staff. I feel so fortunate to work at FirstBank. Based on your past experiences, what is the one piece of advice you would give any woman considering a career in banking? You could be the next trailblazer in this industry. Never stop learning and adapting, trust your instincts, be yourself and be kind. How has FirstBank’s companywide philosophy of “banking for good” impacted your life and career? The “banking for good” philosophy impacted my life and my career in a very meaningful way. Not only am I happy to come to work every day, but I am also proud to promote our culture and often practice “doing good” in my daily life. Considering March is Women’s History Month, which historical figure/s would you like to meet and why? I would like to meet Ana Aslan, a renowned Romanian biologist and physician. In the 1910s, medicine was not a field that women would have chosen for a career, and her mother was against it. She went on a hunger strike until she was allowed to attend medical school. Her accomplishments in medicine helped decrease the mortality rates from flu, and she received the Leon Bernard Prize from the WHO for contributing to the development of gerontology and geriatrics. “This page may contain links to external websites.
