Not only do we strive to do good, but we also love rewarding customers who do good in their community. That’s what “banking for good” is all about, and it’s why we were thrilled to recognize a longtime customer, Derek Dare, for his efforts to help the homeless community.

Derek’s work with local nonprofit Andre House helps provide basic necessities, such as clothes, blankets, laundry services, and food, to those who need it most in Phoenix. Moreover, he’s a kind and beloved regular at our branch near Alma School and Warner.

“Derek is an exceptional human being who works in a homeless shelter helping to provide food and services to people in need,” said Marco Ramos, a Personal Banker at FirstBank. “I’m thrilled that FirstBank is surprising him and his family.”

The Surprise

When Derek arrived, he was greeted by FirstBank staff and a very special guest, Phoenix Mercury Forward Brianna Turner. Brianna presented Derek and his family with tickets to an upcoming Mercury game, autographs, and a uniquely curated gift bag.

Branch Manager Melanie Seat then shocked Derek with a $1,000 donation to Andre House, courtesy of FirstBank. To thank him for his dedication to the less fortunate, the bank treated Derek with a $500 Visa® Gift Card. Always thinking of others, Derek expressed his deep gratitude to Brianna and the FirstBank team and said he couldn’t wait to see the Mercury play in person.
