In collaboration with social media influencer Jimmy Darts, FirstBank surprised four unsuspecting individuals with a cash gift of $5,000 each to help make a difference and inspire them to “Give It Forward” to their favorite charity on Colorado Gives Day (December 10), an online giving movement that supports thousands of nonprofits.

As a result, FirstBank gave a collective $20,000 to these individuals and learned about their incredible strength, kindness, resilience, and community spirit. We hope this special act motivates everyone to “Give It Forward” to causes and communities at ColoradoGivesDay.org. Even $5 can uplift an individual or a family in need. Each contribution, no matter how small, can truly change lives.

Angel’s selfless acts of kindness.

Despite having limited finances, Angel goes above and beyond to help others. He cares for an older woman living in his building, consistently dedicating his time to ensure she has everything she needs. Additionally, Angel volunteers for local nonprofits and provides extra food and clothing to those experiencing homelessness. With this gift, we hope Angel will take time for himself during the holidays. FirstBank will also donate $1,000 to Mending Faces on Angel’s behalf for Colorado Gives Day.

Hazzell’s business ownership dream.

Hazzell is a devoted single mother and business entrepreneur. She juggles multiple jobs, including house cleaning and starting her new salsa business, Fiery/Fuego. She recently faced significant health challenges but continues to have a positive outlook on life—pursuing her dream of owning a business and setting a good example for her kids. This financial gift will help fund her start-up and provide a little holiday cheer for her son. FirstBank will also donate $1,000 to EChO in Hazzell’s name for Colorado Gives Day.

Nancy’s journey to recovery.

Nancy has shown remarkable perseverance and resilience. After facing health issues that led to a period of instability, she found herself living out of her car and relying on family for support. Despite these challenges, she is kind to everyone around her and remains hopeful. The $5,000 gift will provide a roof over her head this holiday season. FirstBank will also donate $1,000 to the Children’s Hospital Colorado Foundation on behalf of Nancy for Colorado Gives Day.

Shell’s brighter holiday ahead.

Although Shell faced eviction, she continues to prioritize her family’s happiness this holiday season. Shell and her daughter stopped by the store with their last $10 to buy a star for their Christmas tree. With FirstBank’s $5,000 gift, we hope she can secure housing and provide a brighter holiday for her family. FirstBank will also donate $1,000 to the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless in Shell’s name.
