In March, we celebrate Women’s History Month by recognizing and celebrating some of FirstBank’s women in leadership. Today, we’re featuring Paige Dopler, Greeley Branch Manager. Hometown: Greeley, CO Years at FirstBank: 10 Years 1. In three to four sentences, describe your experience in getting to where you are today. When I graduated college, I didn’t know what career path I would choose, and my future was a little uncertain, but I always had a knack for finance and working with numbers. I was waitressing at a local restaurant when a FirstBank loan officer and long-time family friend, Daniel Preshaw, suggested I apply at FirstBank, and I jumped on the opportunity. I started as a teller and quickly climbed the corporate ladder. Within five years, I was promoted to Supervisor, and now I’m a Branch Manager. I’ve had many mentors throughout my career, including Karen Habig, former FirstBank Greeley Branch Manager and Melissa Richter, Northern Colorado Retail Senior Manager. They taught me to believe in myself, never give up, learn from my mistakes, and have the confidence to succeed. 2. How has FirstBank’s companywide philosophy of “banking for good” impacted your life and your career? I’ve always had a passion for helping others, and FirstBank offers a variety of ways to ensure employees can do just that. I’ve volunteered at multiple nonprofits throughout Northern Colorado by using FirstBank’s Volunteer Time Off (VTO) benefit, and I’ve participated in multiple “Acts of Goodness” surprises, helping lend a hand to customers in need. Many tears have been shed, laughs have been had, and friendships have been made. I’m so thankful FirstBank allows me to make a difference in the lives of those who need it the most. 3. What is the best career advice you have for the next generation of leaders? What would you tell someone just starting out? Believe in yourself. When I started as a teller, I knew nothing about banking and had never worked in finance. I had no idea that one day, I would become a Branch Manager. I learned that you can accomplish whatever you set your mind to with determination, dedication, and initiative. You should be receptive to constructive feedback and have a growth mindset. No one is perfect, and we all make mistakes. Just like Chris Bertram, Director of Applied Neuroscience at EXOS said, “When you’re in a growth mindset, that means you choose to see struggle and challenge as an opportunity for growth, learning, and development.” 4. What is one thing you’re most proud of that you’ve accomplished while working at FirstBank? I’m most proud of my development as a coach and mentor. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to mentor several FirstBankers, and I’m proud to say many of them have been promoted to various leadership roles or advanced to management. Watching members of my team succeed is one of my proudest accomplishments. 5. If you had your own talk show, who would be your first guest? If I had a talk show, my first guest would be Gordon Ramsay. I’ve loved watching Gordan’s various shows and consider him one of the most talented chefs — he’s won a total of 17 Michelin Stars. I would love to try one of his famous Beef Wellington dishes or have him teach me some valuable cooking skills. 6. Considering March is Women’s History Month, which historical figure/s would you most like to meet and why? Harriet Tubman. She selflessly saved dozens of lives by using the Underground Railroad after escaping slavery herself. I admire her strength, fearlessness, and willingness to put her life on the line to save others. She is a true American hero. “This page may contain links to external websites. These links are displayed for your convenience.
