More than 1.4 million federal employees are affected by the government shutdown, with many furloughed or working without pay. If you’ve been impacted, we understand how stressful this time can be and we’re here to help. The following benefits will be available to furloughed employees immediately:

1. Fee refunds.

Fees such as overdraft fees, debit card fees and early withdrawal fees, etc., will be refunded for impacted federal workers. You can go into any branch location or contact FirstBank’s 24-hour customer service line to request a reversal.

IMPORTANT: You should also notify branch employees and other representatives about your federal employment status to avoid transactional fees for things like wire transfers, cashier’s checks or money orders.

2. One-time skipped mortgage or loan payment.

FirstBank is offering furloughed customers the ability to skip one payment (with interest waived) on their personal or mortgage loans upon request. For assistance on non-mortgage commercial loans, or if further relief is needed, FirstBank will make considerations and evaluate on a case-by-case basis.

3. Access to new credit products.

If you need extra financial flexibility, FirstBank also offers overdraft protection and credit cards. You can apply online, visit your local branch, or speak with a FirstBank officer. When you apply, let us know you’ve been furloughed so we can process your application quickly.
