FirstBank partnered with several different restaurants throughout the state, including Officers Club Lowry and Parker Garage, where they went undercover as “servers in training,” and through an unexpected twist of events, surprised over 800 diners by paying their tabs.

The goal was to encourage goodwill and inspire lucky recipients to pay that act of kindness forward to their favorite charity on Colorado Gives Day (Dec. 4), a 24 hour online giving movement that supports over 2,500 charities.

In total, FirstBank paid nearly $20,000 in restaurant bills across Denver, Parker, Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, Basalt and Vail with the hopes of motivating people to “Give it Forward” to causes and communities that need it.

FirstBank, which is the presenting partner of Colorado Gives Day, has done its “Give It Forward” campaign to encourage donations for the online giving program for five consecutive years. Last year, FirstBank officers took over several gas stations and bought fuel for over 500 commuters. In 2016, executives disguised themselves as grocery baggers and surprised unsuspecting shoppers with free groceries.

The bank — along with Community First Foundation — also contributed an additional $500,000 each to the Million Dollar Incentive Fund, which proportionally boosts each donation made. Colorado Gives Day has raised more than $217 million for Colorado nonprofits with over$35.1 million raised in 2018.
