November 5, 2019 “To use outdoor recreation – where an adult can connect to a kid, or a kid can connect to another kid – we are changing the trajectory for youth in the state of Colorado.” In our third installment of the Colorado Gives Day Nonprofit video series, we’re happy to present SOS Outreach. Since 1993, SOS Outreach has transformed the lives of thousands of underserved youth in Colorado. Using a unique combination of outdoor adventure experiences, positive adult mentorship, and character and leadership development opportunities, SOS enables participants to unleash their potential to thrive. The nonprofit uses skiing, snowboarding, and various summer outdoor activities to strengthen youth through their six core values: Courage, Discipline, Integrity, Wisdom, Compassion and Humility. Over the years, SOS has grown to 15 locations across nine states, and has impacted the lives of more than 65,000 youth. They are proud to call Colorado home, having started their mission in Vail. SOS is able to achieve such widespread impact through their 750+ annual volunteers, financial donations, and in-kind contributions like outdoor gear and fundraising events.
