February 1, 2018 Like it or not, Valentine’s Day is approaching. But there is no need to sulk if you’re single. In 2017, the average customer was predicted to spend $136 on gifts, which is about $18.2 billion total across the U.S. If you don’t have a sweetheart to spoil on Valentine’s Day, here are 14 inexpensive (or free) things you can do to treat yourself. 1. Sleep in. Hit the snooze button one more time this morning. The extra few minutes of beauty sleep will allow your mind to gently awaken and have a positive effect on your health and mood. 2. Wear something comfortable. We suggest pajamas all day. If you have work, wear your nice pajamas. I guarantee people will be jealous. 3. Breakfast in bed. Pancakes with blueberries is a great go-to comfort breakfast. Leave the dishes for tomorrow. 4. Stay hydrated. If you’re tired of water try chamomile tea, it reduces stress and promotes healthy skin and hair. 5. Turn up the volume. Turn on your Spice Girls radio and dance like no one is watching. 6. Fresh air. Take your dog to the local dog park or walk in the sun on your lunch break. Being outside will restore your mental energy and increase your productivity during the day. 7. Build your confidence. This can be accomplished with little to no effort; smile, compliment yourself, or help others. 8. Disconnect. The last thing you need today is to compare your life to your Instagram feed. Set your phone aside, even if it is just for a few hours. 9. Take a minute. Close your eyes and breathe. Meditation will help you get your mind off things that are stressing you out. 10. Exercise. Don’ t let the holiday prevent you from getting those happy endorphins and achieving your fitness goals. 11. Go out with your single friends. One drink at your local karaoke bar couldn’t hurt. When the bill comes, use Zelle to split it. 12. Binge on your favorite show. You need to catch up on Game of Thrones, and this is the perfect night to do it. 13. Pamper yourself. Take a bath and use a fun, soothing bath bomb or make a DIY face mask to unclog your pores and wash away the day. 14. Eat chocolate. It is Valentine’s Day, after all. You deserve it.
