Part of what makes cycling such an amazing sport to watch is that fans can be so close to that action, but this is also what makes the sport dangerous for racers and spectators alike. We’ve all seen the results when fans and racing mix in the wrong ways. Dogs on course, spectators taking selfies as the peloton passes, costumed fans running alongside race leaders: lapses in judgment both large and small have created situations in which fans and racers have been injured, seasons have been ended, and race outcomes have been altered.

In conjunction with the exclusive coverage we have planned on our Twitter page, we will also be hosting a Most Aggressive Rider jersey giveaway, which we are calling the “Most Respectful Superfan Contest”.

FirstBank’s sponsors the Most Aggressive Rider jersey as a way to encourage and reward aggressive racing. This makes an already great event even more exciting for the fans. With the Most Respectful Superfan competition, we want to make cycling even better – and safer – for everyone, by calling attention to the responsibility and safety aspects of bike race spectating by rewarding fans who demonstrate that it’s entirely possible to have a great time while being respectful of the riders, the race, and fellow fans. To that end, we will be awarding three (3) replica Most Aggressive Rider jerseys, signed by winners of the competition, to the fans who best embody these ideals.

Prize Description

The grand prize will go to the fan, who we determine, has set the most exceptional example of respectful superfan behavior during the course of the USA Pro Challenge. Honorable mention prizes will be awarded to two runners-up. The winners will be selected by the FirstBank Marketing department, this will not be a random drawing so make sure you detail why you think your nomination is worthy of being crowned “The Most Respectful Superfan” in your post.

Grand Prize: A signed FirstBank Most Aggressive Rider Jersey & a $200 Amazon gift card. Only one (1) winner will be selected to receive the grand prize from among all eligible entries received.  A person or household may only win one prize during the Most Respectful Superfan contest. FirstBank employees and their immediate family member are not eligible for this contest.

Runner-Up Prize: A signed FirstBank Most Aggressive Rider Jersey. Only two (2) winners will be selected to receive a runner-up prize from among all eligible entries received. A person or household may only win one prize during the Most Respectful Superfan contest. FirstBank employees and their immediate family member are not eligible for this contest.

Entry Requirements

There are three way to properly nominate someone for the Most Respectful Superfan competition. We are allowing entries to be submitted via the FirstBank Facebook page, Twitter, and Instagram accounts.

1. Facebook: In order to correctly submit an entry via Facebook, please comment on the contest post pinned at the top of our Facebook page detailing a situation that embodies respectful superfan behavior. In order for your entry to be deemed valid, you must tag the person you are nominating for the contest in you comment. This is very important in order for us to know who to contact when selecting the winner. Comments that do not follow these instructions will be deemed invalid entries and will not be eligible for prize consideration.
2. Twitter: In order to correctly submit an entry via Twitter, please reply to the pinned Tweet about the contest at the top of our Twitter page detailing a situation that embodies respectful superfan behavior. This can be a story or a photo. In order for your entry to be deemed valid, you must tag the person you are nominating for the contest in your reply and include the #FreeHappens hashtag. Tweets that do not follow these instructions will be deemed invalid entries and will not be eligible for prize consideration.
3. Instagram: In order to correctly submit an entry via Instagram, upload a photo that illustrates respectful superfan behavior. Please tag us (@efirstbank), the person you are nominating and include the #FreeHappens hashtag in your post. Add a caption or describe why you are nominating this person in the text section of your post. Posts that do not follow these instructions will be deemed invalid entries and will not be eligible for prize consideration.
