Today is National Donut Day! According to donutdayusa.com, National Donut Day falls on the first Friday in June each year. The event was created by The Salvation Army in 1938 to honor those who served donuts to soldiers during World War I. You can read all about the history of the donut here.

LaMar’s Donuts – Lamar’s is giving away one free donut when you print and present a Golden Ticket. LaMar’s will also donate part of its proceeds this week to Salvation Army programs that give meals to kids who need them.

Dunkin Donuts – Dunkin’s is giving away its classic, glazed donuts with the purchase of any beverage. Offer is only valid through June 3^rd.

Krispy Kreme – Krispy Kreme also joined the bandwagon and is giving away a free donut today (June 3^rd) – no purchase necessary.
