To help our readers stay up-to-date on important personal finance news and information, we decided to pull together a “week in review” feature. Each week, we’ll highlight interesting, informative and ‘good to know’ finance and banking tidbits to help you stay up-to-speed.

Without further ado, here’s what you need to know this week:

  • Parents wary about their teen’s financial choices may now have a fun, creative solution to educate them on money management. DoSomething.org and H&R Block have launched a text-messaging tool called “Would You Rather” to help young people make smarter money management decisions. The interactive SMS application asks teens to choose between multiple penny-pinching situations and challenge their friends on ways to save money. Check out how it works by viewing this video featuring actor Justin Long here.
  • According to Career Builder and Moneyjobs.com, college students should reconsider that sociology degree as money-related jobs grow exponentially. A recent study found 35 percent of employers in the financial services sector are adding positions in 2014 as a result of better stock market conditions and increased demand for companies to stay better on top of finances.
