There’s nothing that feels better than giving back to others! As you’ve hopefully heard, for the sixth year, Community First Foundation and FirstBank are presenting Colorado Gives Day on Tuesday, Dec. 8. It’s an annual statewide movement to celebrate and increase philanthropy in Colorado through online giving.

But why give on only one day? We’re proud to surround this year’s Colorado Gives Day with more reasons, opportunities and ways to give – and pay it forward. Here are two examples:

This week through Dec. 4, we’re giving our FirstBank Facebook fans the chance to win one of 15 $1,000 cash prizes to donate to the Colorado Gives charity of their choice! There’s still time to participate in our “Why Colorado Gives” social media program. Our Facebook fans simply need to post a photo or video to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram telling us why they give to their favorite Colorado Gives Day nonprofit. The posts must tag ColoradoGives and FirstBank and use #COGivesDay. Then, we’re randomly drawing winners three times a day from across the state. You can check out our live stream of current posts and a Facebook album of our winners.

We also had a fun head start on Colorado Gives Day. Last month, FirstBank surprised guests at three different restaurants and bars across Colorado by giving them free drinks, lunch or dinner. The catch? We asked them to “pay it forward” by making a donation on Colorado Gives Day! John Suthers, the mayor of Colorado Springs, announced free dinner for guests at his city’s Salsa Brava. 9News Anchor Gregg Moss surprised diners at Euclid Hall in Denver. Janay DeLoach, 2012 Olympic silver medalist, told everyone at The Social in Fort Collins that a round of drinks was on the house. Check out this two-minute video that captures the surprise giveaway  and ask yourself how you can pay it forward or donate on Colorado Gives Day, too!
