Recently, FirstBank was once again a supporter of The Summit Foundation’s annual Great River Duck Race.  This was the 26th year that the annual race drew thousands of spectators to the Breckenridge Riverwalk Center.

Originally established in 1984 by the Breckenridge Ski Corporation, The Summit Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life for residents and guests of Summit County and neighboring communities.  Twice each year, The Foundation provides grants to organizations in Summit County and neighboring communities that provide programs or services in the areas of art and culture, education, environment, health and human service, and sports.  In addition, an annual scholarship program provides funding to local high school graduates to pursue post-secondary education.

In the FirstBank Business Battle Duck decorating contest , 66 shoebox size ducks were decorated and displayed at FirstBank (see our Facebook album for this year’s entries).  Congratulations to the Fixator duck created by Dr. Peter Janes at Vail-Summit Orthopaedics and Breckenridge Music Festival’s Kiss duck which tied for the best decorated ducks as voted upon by an expert panel of judges.  An honorable mention award was given to Innovative Energy for their solar duck.

FirstBank is proud to support a great organization like the Summit Foundation and understands the importance of giving back to the community. If you are looking for a fun event to come out and support during Summit County’s beautiful summer season, look no further.  This year’s event took place on August 31st.  If you decide to attend the event next year, also be sure to stop in to our Breckenridge location at 200 Ski Hill Road to view all of the decorated FirstBank Battle Duck entries.
