We’re not a boastful group of people at FirstBank. In fact, we typically shy away from attention. But from time-to-time an employee achieves something worth bragging about. Today, that’s our Senior Vice President (SVP) of Marketing, Brian Jensen, who is one of the recipients of the Denver Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 award, which recognizes 40 outstanding professionals under age 40 based on their business leadership and individual support of their community.

Considering the Denver Business Journal received more than 550 nominations this year, you may understand why we’re so excited to share this news with FirstBank customers. Here are five winning facts about our Brian you should know:

1)      He’s heavily involved in March of Dimes:

Brian began volunteering with March of Dimes in 2006 and has since contributed countless hours and critical support to the organization’s largest fundraisers. He has helped March of Dimes raise more than $5 million for its lifesaving research and programs in Colorado.

2)      He helped lead the nation’s second largest online fundraisers:

Brian has spearheaded Colorado Gives Day’s communication and advertising efforts since its inception, establishing the day as a statewide institution and raising more than $80 million in the process. More than 1,400 Colorado nonprofits benefit from Colorado Gives Day, and in 2014 alone, the effort raised more than $26 million.

3)      He led FirstBank’s rebranding efforts and subsequent growth:

FirstBank’s rebranding initiative was no easy task. The project involved transforming the company’s entire advertising and marketing strategy, remodeling all 115 branch locations and redesigning FirstBank’s website and social channels. His efforts set FirstBank apart and helped the company grow 52 percent, from $9.2 billion in assets at year-end 2008 to more than $14 billion by year-end 2014.

4)      He championed one of the bank’s most successful sponsorships:

Brian helped secure the naming rights to the Broomfield Event Center, an entertainment venue located off of U.S. Highway 36. By purchasing the naming rights and transforming it into the 1STBANK Center, it helped the venue continue delivering outstanding live music experiences and other events to fans nationwide. The long-term sponsorship has proved to be one of FirstBank’s most successful sponsorships in the bank’s 50-plus year history.

5)      He’s one heck of an athlete:

In spite of working long hours and being a dedicated husband and father, Brian is also a competitive swimmer and triathlete. In fact, he wakes up every day at 5 a.m. to train.

Congratulations, Brian! We’re proud of you!
